- select knots, equipment and procedures for safe practice in a variety of situations.

Biomechanics and White Water in Physical Education
This program has been designed and implemented in collaboration with a school that has selected canoeing as one of the four physical activities undertaken by students in the Senior Physical Education program. The Maroon OEC component of the program provides opportunities for students to:
- apply and adapt their flat water canoeing skills to a moving water environment,
- develop a greater understanding of the biomechanical principles associated with white water paddling,
- demonstrate safe paddling strategies in a moving water environment, and
- apply theoretical principles of hydrology and white water paddling in a moving water environment.

Biology Field Studies
This program has been collaboratively designed with a high school to provide students with the compulsory field study component of their Biological Science work program. The Maroon OEC component of the program provides opportunities for students to:
- observe and experience, at first hand, the operation of basic biological principles in real situations,
- enhance the understanding of basic biological principles through the study of natural ecosystems, and
